Lucas at 18 Months

The last six months have simply flown by and suddenly Lucas is 18 months, leaving babyhood behind and running head-on into toddlerhood.

I still spend the same amount of time with him now.  But somehow, it feels like I am spending more time, simply because he can now interact, respond, ask and demand, and he constantly wants to be engaged.  He can now understand things.  It has been amazing to see the changes in him.  It is as if there are tiny little light bulbs in his head that lights up with each level of understanding.

There are so many photos and videos taken in the last six months that I hadn't yet posted.  Most were taken at home, capturing him doing what he does.  So here they are :)

12-13 months

This was taken 10 days after his first birthday.  I had forgotten what it was like when he first started learning to walk.  It is so funny to watch this now.  I like the zombie/you-are-under-arrest stance.  And he didn't know how to turn around, so he had to keep walking straight until he hit the wall.

13-14 months

Playing one of his many silly games.

Rooster-hair day.

 Fun time with daddy.

His new pants were a little stiff..

More fun time with daddy.

He loves anything with wheels.

Watching The Wiggles with friends.

14-15 months

We gave him a little toy horse and showed him how the horse ran.  This is his version of "horsey-running" coupled with a bit of dancing thrown in.  Dancing to him is moving just the head vigorously and not the body.  It is quite alarming to watch and we have enthusiastically discouraged him.  It still pops up now and then, especially when he wants to attract a girl's attention.  I don't think the girls are impressed, though.

Eating dim sum with one chopstick.

Our typical mealtime battle scene.  It's gotten better, thankfully.

At least half of the face and the ears are clean.

15-16 months

Delivering his first speech about.. erm, I think he was talking about the lighting.

He wasn't finished with his speech.

16-17 months

Early May and we were still in our winter jackets.

Boys and dirt cannot be separated.

This was when the telecons started.

I have a personal trainer.  He doesn't charge, and is very enthusiastic.

'Helping' to sort out the gift wraps - see more in my next post 'Gotta Keep (Mummy) Busy'.

 Daddy's barber shop.

The Hulk was here.

He's not always happy.

A rare moment when he actually looked at the camera and stood still.

Winter jackets one moment, and shorts the next.  This was the weather in May.

That is not food he is eating.

Driving daddy.

17-18 months

I left to bring dishes to the kitchen and came back to see this.  He was chewing the whole block of  parmesan and running the cheese grater over my keyboard.

Then a little dance on the table.
 He just can't stop climbing.

Another cold day in June.

Finally, some real summer weather.  We had a lovely time at Clingendael Park :)

I was seriously thinking of getting a duck after this.  Then at least he can chase something other than us.

Taken just two weeks ago.

Yeah, he still loves to run round and round the table.

Finally, these shots were taken last week.  He works from home, you see.  And you thought all he did the whole day was play.

"Better finish this presentation and send it off."

"Gotta work through breakfast to finish all these proof-reading."

Yes, it is real busy being a toddler.  Here's to the next six months!

Hugs and kisses from Lucas :)
